PLay soccer whenever and wherever
Let me give you a brief breather from birds into my world of soccer. I have a never ending, tireless internal urge to play soccer whenever and wherever. It is probably responsibly for a missing 0.1 from my GPA and I wouldn't care if it were a 0.5 (I take that back, I would care).
Junior year during an Honors 100 class where I was a student on a panel for new comers, I participated in an exercise where we had to write our goals down on a small piece of scratch paper. Without skipping a beat, I wrote down: "Play Collegiate Soccer." It was in this room that I decided to attend a small liberal arts college in Illinois for 1 quarter to play at the collegiate level for 1 senior season. And what an experience it was. I got to play with 13 players that I had played with in high school, including 4 extremely close seniors. I worked my way up from a bench player to a starter in the most important games of the season. I learned so much and developed as a player and as a teammate! Since returning, I have continued to play up to 5 times a week, including pick-up, intramurals, indoor with friends, and in an adult league. We even won an intramural championship, a goal of ours since freshman year! I look forward to playing this summer in Stockholm, Sweden at the Euro Gay Games representing the United States on Stonewall FC Seattle, my all gay soccer team! Countries I've played soccer in: Peru, Guatemala, England, Egypt, Tanzania, Belize, Canada |
